Dr. C. Geoffrey Davis Ph.D.
Dr. Davis, currently President and CEO of Angelica Therapeutics, was a founder and the Chief Scientific Officer for Abgenix, Inc., where he led the development of the XenoMouse® technology, was involved in the research and development of Vectabix®, a fully human monoclonal antibody approved for colorectal cancer, and guided the discovery of 11 other antibodies currently in clinical trials. Prior to founding Abgenix, Dr. Davis was a faculty member at the University of California, San Francisco, an investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Director of Immunology at both Repligen Corp. and Cell Genesys, Inc. Dr. Davis received his Ph.D. in immunology from UCSF and completed his postdoctoral work at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is the author of 37 publications and is an inventor on 12 issued patents.
Dr. Mihaly Mezei Ph.D.
Dr. Mihaly Mezei is a world-renowned expert in the areas of statistical mechanics and simulation methodologies and has authored over 100 scientific publications. Dr. Mezei is presently an Associate Professor and Director of Molecular Modeling Core for the Departments of Physiology and Biophysics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York University, where he is developing and implementing novel computational techniques for the prediction and analysis of complex molecular systems in aqueous environments. Dr. Mezei received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Theoretical Inorganic Chemistry from the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary.
Dr. Steve Withers Ph.D.
A joint professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Dr. Withers combines biochemistry, organic chemistry and biophysical chemistry to probe and manipulate the structure and mechanism of enzymes. Dr. Withers has been the recipient of many distinguished awards including the Hoffman LaRoche Award of the Canadian Society of Chemistry, the Charmian Medal Award of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the Corday Morgan Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Dr. Withers has also served as the CEO and Scientific Director of the Canadian Protein Engineering Network of Centres of Excellence (PENCE) from 2000-2005.
Dr. Tom K. Woo Ph.D.
Dr. Woo is an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa's Centre for Catalysis Research and Innovation and the Department of Chemistry. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1998 at the University of Calgary with famed theoretical chemist, Professor Tom Ziegler where he helped pioneer the development and application of combined QM/MM methods for modelling transition metal based catalysis. After taking an NSERC post-doctoral fellowship at the ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Zurich, Switzerland with Professor Ursula Roethlisberger, started his first faculty position at the University of Western Ontario in 2000. In 2005 he moved his research group to the University of Ottawa where he currently holds a Canada Research Chair in Catalyst Modelling and Computational Chemistry. He has over 75 publications in the areas of molecular modeling and computational chemistry, including recent publications in the journals Science, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Physical Review Letters, and Angewandt Chemie.
